Wuhai City is located in the western part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in the upper reaches of the Yellow River and the northwest of the Ordos Plateau. It is an important industrial and resource-based city in Inner Mongolia. The total area of the city is 1754 square kilometers, with 3 districts (Haibowan District, Wuda District, Hainan District) under its jurisdiction, and a permanent population of 556000 people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 76.38 billion yuan.
Wuhai is an important coal chemical base in China, known as the "Pearl of the Yellow River," "Desert Oasis," and "City of Calligraphy." It is an important node city in the Ningmeng Shaan Gan Economic Zone, as well as an important energy and chemical base and regional center city in western Inner Mongolia.
