Shenyang is the capital of Liaoning Province, an important central city in Northeast China, and a national historical and cultural city. The total area of the city is 12900 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 10 districts (Heping District, Shenhe District, Dadong District, Huanggu District, Tiexi District, Sujiatun District, Hunnan District, Shenbei New District, Yuhong District, Liaozhong District), 2 counties (Kangping County, Faku County), and 1 county-level city (Xinmin City), with a permanent population of 9.147 million (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 769.58 billion yuan.
Shenyang is a national advanced equipment manufacturing base and an important node city in the Northeast Asian economic circle. It is known as the "eldest son of the Republic" and the "Oriental Ruhr". It is the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty, a national historical and cultural city, and an important transportation hub and technological innovation center in the Northeast region.
