Dandong City is located in the southeast of Liaoning Province, on the border between China and North Korea. It is the largest border city in China and an important node in the Northeast Asian economic circle. The total area of the city is 15200 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 3 districts (Zhenxing District, Yuanbao District, Zhen'an District), 2 counties (Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County, Donggang City), and 1 county-level city (Fengcheng City), with a permanent population of 2.189 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 89.06 billion yuan.
Dandong is an important border port city and coastal open city in China, known as the "largest and most beautiful border city in China" and the "hero city of the Korean War". It is an important commercial and logistics center and ecological tourism destination in Northeast China.
