Dalian is located at the southernmost point of Northeast China and is a sub provincial city and a planned city in Liaoning Province. The total area of the city is 12500 square kilometers (including 2415 square kilometers of urban area), with jurisdiction over 7 districts (Zhongshan District, Xigang District, Shahekou District, Ganjingzi District, Lushunkou District, Jinzhou District, Pulandian District), 2 counties (Changhai County, Zhuanghe County), and 1 county-level city (Wafangdian City), with a permanent resident population of 7.451 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 843.09 billion yuan.
Dalian is an important port, industrial, trade, financial, and tourist city in China, known as the "Pearl of the North" and the "Romantic Capital". It is a window for Northeast China to open up to the outside world and an important coastal open city in northern China.
