Overview of Tonghua City
Tonghua City is located in the southern part of Jilin Province, at the western foot of Changbai Mountain. It is an important border city and a famous medical city in Jilin Province. The total area of the city is 15600 square kilometers, with 2 districts (Dongchang District, Erdaojiang District), 3 counties (Tonghua County, Liuhe County, Huinan County), and 2 county-level cities (Meihekou City, Ji'an City) under its jurisdiction, and a permanent population of 1.305 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 58.16 billion yuan.
Tonghua is an important national pharmaceutical production base and high-quality wine producing area, known as the "Chinese Medicine City" and "Wine City". It is a world cultural heritage site of Goguryeo and an important window for Jilin Province to open up to the south.
