Overview of Songyuan City
Songyuan City is located in the central and western part of Jilin Province, at the southern end of the Songnen Plain. It is an important energy base and agricultural city in Jilin Province. The total area of the city is 22000 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 1 district (Ningjiang District), 3 counties (Qian Gorlos Mongolian Autonomous County, Changling County, Qian'an County), and 1 county-level city (Fuyu City), with a permanent population of 2.154 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 137.96 billion yuan.
Songyuan City is an important national commodity grain base and energy base, known as the "granary, meat warehouse, fishing village, and oil sea". It is the core city of the western ecological economic zone in Jilin Province, as well as an important oil and gas production base and ecological agriculture demonstration zone in Northeast China.
