Baoding is located in the central part of Hebei Province and is an important regional center city in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region. The total area of the city is 22100 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 5 districts (Jingxiu District, Lianchi District, Mancheng District, Qingyuan District, Xushui District), 15 counties (Laishui County, Fuping County, Dingxing County, Tang County, Gaoyang County, Rongcheng County, Laiyuan County, Wangdu County, Anxin County, Yi County, Quyang County, Li County, Shunping County, Boye County, Xiong County) and 4 county-level cities (Zhuozhou City, Dingzhou City, Anguo City, Gaobeidian City), with a permanent population of 11.437 million people (2022 data). Baoding is a national historical and cultural city, known as the "capital city" and "southern gateway of the capital". It was once the residence of the Governor General's Office of Zhili in history and was the earliest provincial capital city in Hebei Province (1913-1968).
